Nanu or Mann's Gardenia (Gardenia mannii) is a species of flowering tree in the coffee family, Rubiaceae, that is endemic to the island of O‘ahu in Hawai‘i. It inhabits coastal mesic, mixed mesic, and wet forests at elevations of 100–730 m (330–2,400 ft) in the Ko‘olau and Wai‘anae Ranges. It is threatened by habitat loss. Rubiaceae is a family of flowering plants, variously called the madder family, bedstraw family or coffee family. Other common plants included are gardenia, cinchona (whose bark contains quinine), sweet woodruff, partridgeberry, gambier, ixora, and noni.
