Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Geum, the Avens, is a genus of about 50 species of perennial herbaceous plants in the rose family Rosaceae, native to Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa and New Zealand. They are closely related to Potentilla and Fragaria. Geum species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Grizzled Skipper. The rose subfamily Rosoideae consists of more than 850 species, including many shrubs, perennial herbs, and fruit plants such as strawberries and brambles. Only a few are annual herbs.
