The Institution is located in Barton Hill, which is two kilometres from the city centre in Trivandrum. It was started in order to have a centre of excellence to focus on the latest in Technology, and to augment the demand for Engineering education in Kerala. The institute has four major departments: Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The college, now in the tenth academic year since its inception, has already established itself as one of the leading Engineering Colleges in Kerala.
