She was sunk by U-165 in the Gulf of St. Lawrence in September 07, 1942. SM U-165 was one of the 329 submarines serving in the Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) in World War I. HMCS Raccoon was escorting convoy QS-33 in the Straits of Belle-Isle. The entire ship crew was lost.
