High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! HMS Aphis was a Royal Navy Insect class gunboat. She was built by Ailsa Shipbuilding Company and launched on 15 September 1915. Aphis was at China until 1940, then went to the Mediterranean taking part in the invasion of Elba, and finally to the Pacific in 1945. She was scrapped at Singapore in 1947. The Royal Navy of the United Kingdom is the oldest of HM Armed Forces (and is therefore known as the Senior Service).
