High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! HMS Ardent was a wooden Alecto-class paddle sloop of the Royal Navy. She was the fourth ship to use the name Ardent. She was launched on 12 February 1841 at Chatham. She was scrapped in 1865. One of the ship's company, Gunner John Robarts, was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions in the Crimean War. The Royal Navy of the United Kingdom is the oldest of HM Armed Forces (and is therefore known as the Senior Service).
