HMS Colossus was a two-deck 80-gun second rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 1 June 1848 at Pembroke Dockyard. Colossus was fitted with screw propulsion in 1864, and was sold out of the navy in 1867. The Royal Navy of the United Kingdom is the oldest of HM Armed Forces (and is therefore known as the Senior Service).
