She was launched by Vickers Limited, Barrow-in-Furness on 20 March 1897. She was among the vessels reclassified as C-class destroyers in 1913. Leopard served in the First World War and was sold for scrapping in June 1919 to J. Jackson. Avon-class destroyer was a class of three destroyers that served in the Royal Navy. These three funnelled 30 knot vessels were redesignated C-class destroyers in the reorganisation of 1913.
