She was launched on 23 January 1988, the last ship of her class. On Sunday 18 March 2007, she was presented with the Freedom of the Borough scroll in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. The Royal Navy of the United Kingdom is the oldest of HM Armed Forces (and is therefore known as the Senior Service).
