"Home" is a 2007 song by American rock band Daughtry from their self titled debut album. The song had been climbing up the U.S. charts for a few weeks before the song was announced as the second single (possibly due to its use on American Idol as the show's "vote off" song). Chris Daughtry wrote the song on the couch the day before he left for American Idol. The theme of the song centers around the singer being grateful for what he has, but still longing for his family. Therefore, he realizes it is best if he comes home, where he is surrounded by love. Film composer Deborah Lurie provided the string arrangements used in the song. After much speculation, it was finally confirmed as the second main single off the album in a New York Times article. In the UK the song was released on January 7, 2008 as the first single from the album ("It's Not Over" was originally going to be the first single there, but its UK release was canceled at the last minute).
