Circa 1992 Al Gore had sponsored the legislation that opened the Internet to the general public. During this time period people were connecting to each other via dial-up modems and online services such as AOL, Prodigy, Delphi and Compuserve (CIS). Once connected, users were able to exchange emails and connect to various member-created chat rooms, one of which resided on the Prodigy network, entitled Home Theater Forum.
