High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Irish Travellers are a traditionally nomadic people of Irish origin living predominantly in Ireland and Great Britain, with a relatively small number in the United States. Among themselves, Travellers refer to themselves as Pavees. Derogatory terms are sometimes used to refer to them by non-Travellers, such as 'pikeys', 'knackers', and 'gypos'. In Irish, Travellers are called an Lucht Siuil. Many non-Travellers refer to the group as 'Itinerants' which means "people who travel from place to place" or 'tinkers' which originally meant "tinsmiths"; however, the latter term is considered derogatory.
