Laurinaitis was a three-year starting middle linebacker at Ohio State University. He was selected by the St. Louis Rams with the 35th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He is the son of former professional wrestler Joe Laurinaitis, better known as Animal, one half of the tag team The Road Warriors. He is also the nephew of John Laurinaitis, better known as Johnny Ace, who currently is the on-screen General Manager of WWE Raw.
