Vidal is of Chinese, Korean, and Filipino ethnicity with British nationality. Her twin sister Janice is also a singer in Hong Kong. Vidal and her singer boyfriend Kelvin Kwan were arrested in Tokyo on 24 February 2009 over allegations of shoplifting and possession of marijuana. Her boyfriend was released after 32 days' detention; Vidal was later charged with heroin trafficking – heroin weighing a total of 1.36 grams was found in her luggage in her hotel room. On 24 April, Vidal was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, suspended for three years.
