High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Journal of Indigenous Studies was a multilingual, semi-annual, refereed, scholarly periodical. Established in 1989, it was sponsored by the Gabriel Dumont Institute, a Metis-directed educational and cultural entity in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, affiliated with the University of Regina. The journal's scope was international, interdisciplinary, and cross- cultural, with a focus on indigenous people, from the perspectives of a variety of academic fields, including archaeology, education, law, linguistics, philosophy, and sociology. Dana F. Lawrence was the original Editor, while R. James McNinch of the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (a GDI program) was the Assistant Editor.
