She is a front bench Cabinet minister with the portfolios of Justice (the Justice portfolio includes responsibility for the Law Commission), Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and Ethnic Affairs, in the Fifth National Government. Before taking on these roles she was Minister of Police, Minister of Corrections and Minister of Veterans` Affairs. With a current Cabinet ranking of five, she is the highest ranked woman.
