(both 1954) but achieved greater prominence in the 1955 film Picnic. In the following five years, she appeared in The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), The Eddy Duchin Story (1956), Pal Joey (1957), and Bell, Book and Candle (1958). She is best known for her dual role as Judy Barton/Madeleine Elster in the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock film Vertigo.
