It is in the northwest part of the city, serving the Kipling and Dixon, and Richview areas. As one of only a few semestered high schools in the area that offers an academic program, Kipling attracts many students from outside the school boundary who prefer that format; mostly from the Humber Heights, Weston and Rexdale areas. Kipling's feeder schools are Dixon Grove, Kingsview Village, Parkfield, and Westway public schools. The school's daily announcements are presented through televisions, as a student-produced news show called Switch On.
