High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Komala's Restaurants is a Singapore-based restaurant-chain serving Indian vegetarian cuisine. The group has restaurants overseas in India, Thailand, Indonesia and Canada. Started in 1947 by Murugiah Rajoo in Singapore, the restaurant became known for the low priced high quality Indian food. The restaurant is popular with all walks of life, and its part of the Komala's Group. Komala's introduced an Indian Vegetarian fast food restaurant in July 1995 at Little India in a Western-style environment. A year later, it opened a high end Indian restaurant known as The Gangzes and in 1997, it formed Komala's Group to be the parent company of Komala's Restaurants. Two Komala's restaurants opened in 1998 in the city centre, one at Scotts Shopping Centre at the prime Orchard Road shopping belt and the other at Peninsula Plaza in Downtown Core.
