Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus Nee ex Steud) Wats belong to genus Cymbopogon. The genus Cymbopogon comprises around 140 species of which most are aromatic yields an essential oil of high commercial and industrial significance. Lemongrass oil composed mainly of acyclic monoterpenes citral and geraniol are occupying ever-increasing and vastly varied significance in flavor and fragrances as well as in pharmaceuticals.
