This list only includes places that exist solely in the Simpsons universe, not real-life locations that have appeared on the show. Springfield is the setting of the series and the home of the Simpson family. It is located near Shelbyville and Capitol City in a U.S. state whose name is never mentioned. Founded in 1796 by Jebediah Springfield, Springfield is a medium-sized city with a nuclear power plant plus several schools, mountains, factories, parks, neighborhoods, landmarks and businesses.
