The harmonica, also called harp, French harp, blues harp, and mouth organ, is a free reed wind instrument used primarily in blues and American folk music, jazz, country, and rock and roll. Harmonicas were heard on a handful of recordings in the early 1900s. The harmonica`s versatility brought it to the attention of classical music during the 1930s. The harmonica then made its way with the blues and the black migrants to the north.
