It is operated by the two state-owned (Shenzhen Metro Corporation and Shenzhen Metro No.3 Line Operations Branch Corporation) and one Public company (MTR Corporation (Shenzhen)) and was the seventh metro system to be built in mainland China. Having delivered 138 million rides in 2009, it is one of the busiest metro system in the world.
