The series began airing on Fox on September 5, 2006 in the United States. Created by Craig Silverstein, Standoff follows an FBI Crisis Negotiation Unit as its members negotiate hostage situations and develop intimate relationships. Standoff was placed on hiatus in December 2006 after only eleven of the eighteen produced episodes had been aired. After the series was officially canceled on May 16, 2007, the series resumed on June 8, 2007 and completed its original run on July 20, 2007. The series also aired on Australia`s Seven Network in the 2006-07 summer `non ratings` period and then finished its run in a late night timeslot in July-September 2007. A total of 18 episodes were aired.
