Lori Helene Berenson (born November 13, 1969) is an American convicted in Peru of unlawful collaboration with the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA), which the Peruvian government regarded as a terrorist organization, and which had committed numerous attacks in attempting to overthrow the government. Her arrest and conviction, and the circumstances of her trials, provoked considerable attention in the United States and in Peru.
