Worldwide approximately 3 billion people survive on $2 a day and more than half billion survive on less than $1 per day. Thus poverty eradication has been a concern for most governments. For example, as stated in the Tanzania Poverty Eradication Strategy (1998); the long term objective of Tanzania government is to reduce poverty by the year 2010 and eradicate poverty by the year 2025.
