High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Born in Mauritania, Mohamedou Ould Slahi is an alleged al-Qaeda militant formerly suspected of involvement in one of the 2000 millennium attack plots. According to Prosecutor Stuart Couch, Slahi was held in custody by the Central Intelligence Agency in 2003, and was subjected to abusive interrogations which "compromised our ability to prosecute him". Couch also admitted that he had enlisted to serve as a prosecutor specifically because he "had wanted to help bring justice" for a friend who had been the co-pilot of United Flight 175". He has been under arrest since November 20, 2001, and is currently held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. As of April 20, 2010, Mohamedou Ould Slahi has been held at Guantanamo for seven years eight months.
