Created as a stock company and based at Brownsville, Pennsylvania, the shareholders of the MOSBC contracted Daniel French to build two steamboats: Enterprise and Despatch. Both steamboats contributed greatly to the expansion of steamboat commerce throughout the country`s western rivers.
