High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Nacala Airport (IATA: MNC, ICAO: FQNC) is an airport near Nacala, in the Nampula Province in Mozambique. There are plans to rehabilitate the Nacala airport so that commercial aviation may start. As a cargo handling station its a estimated 80 million dollars to fix. Also it will be constructed to be a international airport it is due to start in April. The work involves a passenger and cargo terminal a repaved runway and a control tower to bring it to civil aviation standards. The runway will be 3,400 metres (11,200 ft) able to handle a Boeing 757 or 767 the airport will be able to handle 500,000 to 600,000 passengers a year. Nacala will be home to the finest deep port on the east coast of Africa called Port of Nacala. Once the airport is open people will not have to go to maputo to get in to the country. It was decided by transport minister Paulo Zucula. The airport will become a hub for Northern Mozambique and have connections with Nampula, lichinga, Cuamba and Pemba.
