Nana Miki started her career as a ballet dancer in Japan, traveling internationally. She moved to the United States in 2003 and graduated in modern dance under merit scholarship at the Merce Cunningham Studio while pursuing ballet under the mentorship of Christine Wright. She has worked for choreographers such as Noemie Lafrance, Floanne Ankah and Masumi Kishimoto in venues such as the Fringe Festival, the Dumbo Festival, Movement Research at the Judson Church, and at the Joyce SoHo. She has also appeared as a lead dancer the dance on camera films Brooklyn Bridge and Kirk Light. After graduating from Osaka University of the Arts (B.A in Performing Arts, 1999), she began teaching and choreographing[8]. She created a solo piece for echO in collaboration with SIMPLE production in 2006. She is known for collaborating with photographers on dance photo-shoots. She is part of an art and science project for NYC audiences about water ecology, greenwashing and consumerism.
