Studies have proved that sexual harassment and abuse is common in learning institutions. Most of the targets are students and this is often committed by teachers or other adults in the learning institutions. In Kenya however, cases of teachers being victims of sexual harassment have been reported. This study investigated the nature and effects of sexual harassment of teachers in special and regular secondary schools in Central Province, Kenya. The findings indicated that teachers, both in regular and special secondary schools, experience sexual harassment. The main targets of sexual harassment were young teachers and especially those on teaching practice.Offices and distance between home and school were considered as the most risky places for sexual harassment. This study therefore radically alters the traditional orientation in tackling sexual harassment and abuse in learning institutions and recommends a holistic intervention approach.
