The mandate of the Group is to develop statistical methodologies for the analysis of the various dimensions of the science and technology (research and development, innovation, patents, technological balance of payments, human resources for science and technology, etc.). The Group assists the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy in developing and interpreting indicators in the light of policy making acting also as a clearing house through which member countries could exchange information and experience on methods of collecting, compiling, analysing and interpreting data and indicators.
