High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In software, netsh, or network shell, is a utility included in Microsoft's Windows NT line of operating systems beginning with Windows 2000. It allows local or remote configuration of network settings. A common use of netsh is to reset the TCP/IP stack to default, known-good parameters, a task that in Windows 98 required reinstallation of the TCP/IP adapter. In this mode you must provide a log file, which will be filled with what values netsh affected. Netsh, among many other things, also allows the user to change the IP address on their machine. Starting from Vista, one can also edit wireless settings (e.g. SSID) using netsh. A computer network, often simply referred to as a network, is a collection of computers and devices connected by communications channels that facilitates communications among users and allows users to share resources with other users. Networks may be classified according to a wide variety of characteristics. This article provides a general overview of types and categories and also presents the basic components of a network.
