The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society (NYGBS) is a non-profit but executive managed institution located at 36 West 44th Street in New York City. Founded in 1869, it is the second-oldest genealogical society in the United States. It`s offices are not open to members or the public. Its purpose is to collect and make available information on genealogy, biography, and history, particularly as it relates to the people of New York State.
