The current publisher is Peter York. It was formed in 1995 from the merger of the North County Blade-Citizen of Oceanside (founded 1929) and the Escondido Times-Advocate (founded 1909). Since 1997, the Times has published The Californian in Temecula, located in southwest Riverside County. The newspaper is published with nine local editions including The Californian. Starting in the mid-1990's, The North County Times began an annual program selecting ten Women of Merit, chosen from amongst dozens of area nominations.
