Therefore, Notre Dame has more flexibility with regards to scheduling because it is not committed to playing eight or nine games within an athletic conference. With the announcement of a move to the ACC in all other sports except hockey and football, Notre Dame has a preliminary agreement to play five ACC schools per season in football. This leaves future schedules subject to change to accommodate 5 usually different ACC teams per year on a 3 year rotating basis.
