NSB Class 72 (Norwegian: NSB type 72) is one of the two types of electric multiple unit which is used by Norges Statsbaner for commuter traffic around Oslo and on the Jaeren Line between Stavanger and Egersund. It was purchased as the next generation of commuter trains to replace some of the older Class 69 units. Introduction of this class started in 2002 and the sets were initially branded as NSB Puls, though this brand has been phased out. A BM72 train consists of four cars. Like other commuter trains the carriage has five abreast seating. The windows on a BM72 are considerably larger than those on the BM69 trains. All the 36 trains were manufactured by Ansaldobreda, and styled by Pininfarina.
