High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Government of Andhra Pradesh established its first University of Health Sciences fulfilling the recommendations of several committees. Thus the Andhra Pradesh University of Health Sciences was instituted by an act of the Andhra Pradesh legislature and was opened in 1986 by the late N.T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The University of Health Sciences started functioning at Vijayawada from 1 November 1986. After the death of its founder the University was named after him as NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, with effect from February 1998.
