Rachael was crowned Miss Earth Australia 2008 and represented Australia in the Miss Earth 2008 International Pageant in the Philippines. Rachael won Best in Talent (crowned Miss Talent) at the international event for her graceful and dynamic rhythmic gymnastics display. Rachael grew up in Perth, Western Australia, as the youngest of three children. She trained as a classical ballet dancer and then as a rhythmic gymnast. Rachael's love for the environment led her to complete an Environmental Science degree, and her devotion to helping the environment has been furthered by her Miss Earth Australia title. Rachael moved from Perth to Sydney in 2009 and studied screen acting at NIDA (Sydney Australia).

The population density was 50 people per square mile. There were 15,009 housing units at an average density of 28 per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 90.37% White, 0.32% Black or African American, 1.04% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 6.10% from other races, and 1.89% from two or more races. 11.61% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 22.4% were of German, 10.1% American, 8.8% English, 8.6% Dutch and 8.0% Irish ancestry according to Census 2000. 89.1% spoke only English, while 9.9% spoke Spanish at home. In 2000 Oceana County had the highest percentage of Latinos of any county in Michigan. By 2005 the percentage of non-Hispanic whites in Oceana county was down to 83.8. African Americans had nearly doubled to 0.6% of the population. Native Americans held steady at 1.0% of the population. Asians also were the same percentage of the population. Latinos continued to grow in numbers, now constituting 13.9% of the population.
