Kawann "Ohene" Shockley, though born and raised in Philadelphia, began his music career in Accra, Ghana, where he spent his teenage years. He recorded his first demo tape at the age of 13, which lead to his first television appearance in 1997 on Smash T.V., a national television show in The Republic of Ghana, West Africa.
