He is the founder and chairperson of Corporate and Economic Research Group Advisory Private Limited (CERG). He has claimed that for 18 years he taught and researched Economics at Oxford, the Delhi School of Economics, Harvard, Tufts, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Rutgers University and the Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi. In March 1997 he left academics to become the Editor of Business India, magazine. Dr. Goswami also serves as a Director on the boards of Forbes, Infosys, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, DSP Merrill Lynch Fund Managers Limited, Infrastructure Development and Finance Company Limited, Crompton Greaves Limited, Sona Koyo Steering Systems Limited, Ambuja Cements Limited and Cairn India Limited.
