The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is an organization aiming to promote the sustainable development of tourism in the Asia-Pacific region.The organization began in either 1951 or 1952 after an initial meeting of representatives of twelve Pacific nations, held in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The group named themselves the 'Pacific Interim Travel Association' (PITA), which later became the 'Pacific Area Travel Association' (PATA) in 1953.
