High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In mathematics, Padovan polynomials are a generalization of Padovan sequence numbers. These polynomials are defined by:The Padovan numbers are recovered by evaluating the polynomials at x = 1. Evaluating Pn-3(x) at x = 2 gives the nth Fibonacci number plus (-1)n. (sequence A008346 in OEIS). The Padovan sequence is the sequence of integers P(n) defined by the initial valuesThe Padovan sequence is named after Richard Padovan who attributed its discovery to Dutch architect Hans van der Laan in his 1994 essay Dom. Hans van der Laan : Modern Primitive. The sequence was described by Ian Stewart in his Scientific American column Mathematical Recreations in June 1996.
