The Palmetto is an 829-mile (1334 km) passenger train service operated by Amtrak from New York City south to Savannah, Georgia via the Northeast Corridor to Washington, DC, then via Richmond, Virginia, Fayetteville, North Carolina and Charleston, South Carolina. The Palmetto is a shorter version of the Silver Meteor, which continues south to Miami, Florida. The Palmetto was originally the Palmetto Limited, inaugurated November 1, 1910 by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad between New York and St. Petersburg (beyond Tampa).
