High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to assist economically disadvantaged people in Latin America and the Caribbean. The 501(c)(3) organization was founded in 1962 through an agreement between the Organization of American States (OAS) and the private sector. Having worked in every country in the region, PADF creates public-private partnerships and engages community-based groups, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), national, state, and municipal governments, and the private sector in the process of implementing appropriate solutions for sustainable development. Through these partnerships, PADF seeks to create economic opportunities, promote social investments, strengthen communities and civil society, and prepare for and respond to natural disasters. As of 2008, the organization has offices in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, and Venezuela.
