The single is the first recording of John Utlser, Joseph Utsler, and Joseph Bruce, the latter two of which went on to form the duo Insane Clown Posse.The JJ Boys formed in 1989, and consisted of teenagers Jagged Joe, Kangol Joe, and Master J. The group was created for fun, and the members did not consider pursuing a serious career in music at the time. As a result, they released only one song. Party At The Top Of The Hill was recorded on a friend's four-track tape recorder.
