"Passing The Time" is the third song of the English blues rock band Cream from their double album Wheels of Fire, written by Ginger Baker, Cream's drummer. The song is about a lonely woman who waits for her traveling husband during winter; it is unique in that it is the longest recorded jam by Cream that wasn't live. "Passing the Time" is a jamming song in fact. It is divided into four parts. An intro, a verse section, a jam session, and back to the verse section. It is opened by a very short psychedelic-blues jam, followed by a peaceful verse section. After four slow verses, which Jack Bruce sings in the first two, and Clapton providing backing vocals in the remaining two, comes an improvising section. On different releases, this section is different, due to the various lengths of the song.
