Paul Newland (born 1966) is a British composer of contemporary classical music. He has won numerous prizes, including the RPS Composition Prize 1990, a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award in 1993, and in 1995 he was awarded the Royal Academy of Music's Josiah Parker Prize by Gyorgy Ligeti. He has studied composition with Anthony Gilbert and Sir Harrison Birtwistle at the Royal Northern College of Music, with Michael Finnissy at the Royal Academy of Music, Jo Kondo at the Elisabeth University of Music in Hiroshima (where he lived between 1999 and 2002), and Simon Holt at the Royal Holloway University of London.
