High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Praemium Imperiale is an arts prize awarded since 1989 by the imperial family of Japan on behalf of the Japan Art Association in the fields painting, sculpture, architecture, music, and theatre/film. Annually, award honorees are recommended by international advisers, currently Yasuhiro Nakasone, William H. Luers, Lamberto Dini, Francois Pinault, and Chris Patten, and decided by an anonymous committee of the Japan Art Association. The award consists of a gold medal and 15 million yen, and was created by the Fujisankei Communications Group, which pays the expenses of around $3 million per year. Fujisankei Communications Group, abbreviated FCG, is a keiretsu in Japan. This media conglomerate was founded by Nobutaka Shikanai. In 1991, it was the fourth-largest media company in the world and the largest one in Japan. In the same year, the company's yearly revenue was $5 billion.
