High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Prairie Hill is an unincorporated community in eastern Chariton County, Missouri, United States. It is located about eight miles northeast of Salisbury. Its post office has closed; mail now comes from Salisbury. In law, an unincorporated area is a region of land that is not a part of any municipality. To "incorporate" in this context means to form a municipal corporation, a city or town with its own government, although the term 'town' is subject to variance of meaning according to context. In the United States of America, the meaning of the term town varies from state to state. In some states, a town is an incorporated municipality, that is, one with a charter received from the state, similar to a city (see incorporated town). In others, a town is unincorporated. In most places, town refers to a small incorporated municipality of less than 10,000 people, although some of these municipalities may be called "cities."
